This year the U.S. Government will have an important choice to make about where to invest $35 billion for its next generation aerial refueling tanker.  We welcome fair and open competition because we know we will design and build a tanker that meets the U.S. Air Force’s defined requirements better and more affordably than the Airbus-based tanker we are competing against.  A Boeing tanker will also have a more positive impact on U.S. jobs and the U.S. economy compared to the competing tanker, which would be designed and built predominantly in Airbus’s home plants throughout Europe.

Boeing is proud to directly employ more than 151,000 workers in the United States and to support over 1.2 million additional supplier jobs across the country.  We continue to invest in America and create new jobs. Just recently we broke ground in Charleston, SC, on a new production facility that will add thousands of jobs and complement our commercial aircraft manufacturing facilities in Washington state and Oregon.  This investment will add significantly to America’s overall manufacturing base, part of which has for more than 60 years produced and maintained aerial refueling tankers with skilled American workers and homegrown ingenuity at Boeing facilities.
