More than 200 Boeing employees represented by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers and the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace joined lawmakers and union leaders at the Everett (Wash.) Machinists Union Hall earlier this month to rally in support of Boeing’s NewGen Tanker bid for the U.S. Air Force's KC-X competition.
In kicking off the rally, host Senator Patty Murray (D-Wash.) addressed the need for a level playing field for the competition, stating, "On a level playing field, no one is going to beat Boeing for this contract. The illegal subsidies Airbus has received have hurt workers in this room, and I won’t stop fighting to make sure they’re considered in this competition.”
